Color accessibility
for web design

Can you see me now? If your visitors are colorblind, maybe not.

I’m writing up the Colorblind Manifesto. Its aim is to tell my story and to help designers with color so that it remains accessible to the widest possible audience. It will give examples, both good and bad (Hint: Wired magazine is pretty bad. Google is pretty good.) My goal is to help you get the best design for you and your clients. And it will hopefully encourage you to seek out people like me to help you out.

Only after helping people with their web design and color choices do they find out that I’m colorblind. “But how could you help us so much if you can’t see colors properly?” “Well, I just did.” What follows is an explanation on how important it is for your design to be kind to the colorblind. I’m not asking to sacrifice trendiness, sleekness, vibe, or whatever other feeling you’re trying to convey. All this is possible whilst still remaining kind to the colorblind.
